Buying a corset may sound like a simple task, but there are more things to consider than one might think. There are different corsets for different purposes. Women's corset and bustiers can have dramatically different price points. Before you invest your money in a corset or bustier it helps to know what you are looking for. This will help you get the most for your money.

It is cheapest to get a corset that has plastic boning. Most modern corsets use plastic boning. Plastic boning should not be used for waist training. If you have a larger bust you should also avoid plastic boning because it will be uncomfortable and it won't provide adequate support. Don't lace a corset with plastic boning too tight or it will bend and dig into your skin.

Steel boning comes in two different types, spiral steel and flat steel. Spiral steel is more flexible than flat steel. Steel boning provides more support than plastic boning. Steel boning is more expensive, but if you are planning on wearing your corset a lot it is well-worth the additional cost. A Steel corset is ideal for waist training.

Double boned corsets are the best type to buy if you are planning on doing waist training. They have twice the support as a normal corset. You can lace them tighter. If you want to significantly change the shape of your body a double boned corset will give you the best results. Just make sure they have steel boning.
